"When I grow up I think I'll pluck an instrument"

Biography of TravisTravis was born in June 1987 in Alamosa, Colorado. He was a very active child and enjoyed bike riding and any sport involving the throwing of balls. He had a passion for motion, especially the visual joy of objects flying through the air. (When the flying objects knocked pictures off of the wall it was a special bonus in the enjoyment of motion.) At a young age Travis began to demonstrate an aptitude for music. He could recognize a tune after hearing it only once, and would have it memorized the second time through. Even as young as two years old, he sang on tune, and always hummed a little tune as he played with his cars. Travis began playing the mandolin when he was 11 years old. By the time he was 13, he was in his first band. Over the next few years, his skill on the mandolin began to increase as he played in several different bands and entered mandolin contests. At the age of only 16, Travis took First Place in the Walnut Valley Mandolin Contest at the National Flat-picking Championships. In the past few years, Travis has begun to excel in 3-dimensional computer animation, and is considering a career as an animator. Whether he pursues a career in music or in animation, Travis knows that music will always be a part of his life. And as Travis’ mother watches his newest animated creation of a teapot flying through the air, she smiles to herself, knowing that the pictures on the wall are safe.
