Breanna's Famous Granola Bars

2 cups quick-cooking oats

1 cup whole wheat flour

1/4 cup wheat germ

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup maple syrup

1/2 cup canola oil

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 10-ounce jar no-sugar strawberry jam

 

In a small bowl combine oats, flour, wheat germ, baking powder and spices. In a large bowl beat together the syrup, oil and vanilla. Add the dry ingredients. Press half of the mixture into a 9 x 9 inch greased pan. Spread the jam on top. Sprinkle the remaining crust on top of the jam. Gently pat smooth. Bake in a 350 degree oven until golden, about 45 minutes. Cool completely. Cut into bars. Bars can be wrapped individually and frozen. They are delicious eaten while still frozen.
