Someone to Say Goodbye To
The summer sun wakes up to make the day,
And feed the campfires with daylight flames,
Remains of yesterday tell tales of distant stars,
That shone enchanting on pairs of dancing feet.
A single breeze brings its offerings,
The sound of music and coming rain,
It seems a part of me will never grow too old,
To spend one weekend of each year as a child.
A weekend out of the world,
I see another smiling face,
And I wonder, are you another one,
To say goodbye to?
You will find a friend in unlikely places,
If you smile and laugh, and seek their eyes,
And dread the day you say goodbye.
And I know I may never see another sunrise,
And I know this life I lead is just a passing rain,
but I feel that familiar warmth begin to start,
And I know I've touched another heart,
How sweet to walk hand in hand.
